My how plans change. Our cruising Plan A this season was to sail to Sicily but that failed due to unusually strong winds off shore and in the Greek Islands. Plan B was to winter in Fethiye but that failed due to Fran injuring her back while in Marmaris and returning to Fethiye was out of the question. So now we find ourselves wintering in Yacht Marine Marmaris by default and that was just not on any plan! It's not all bad though as we are now 150 nm closer to our goal for next season!
So here we are in Marmaris Turkey in Yacht Marine. We only came in here for a few days when the weather was bad but unfortunately because of Fran's back injury we decided to stay in the Marina for a month to give it time to heal. We were both very disappointed that our cruising season was cut short but "that is how the cookie crumbles"
Since being here Tom has had a great time checking out all the chandleries and buying "bits and pieces " for his "never ending projects" I suppose really he is doing what he likes best. He is getting on with his "projects" as well trying to get his "ducks in a row" that means he is buying items for all his various projects. Heaven help if Tom hasn't any jobs to do! He would say he is "bored out of my brain!" Fran is keeping the "home fires burning" and being a super technical assistant! A few weeks on from my back injury and I still have to be very careful and mind how I move but I am much more mobile than before.
We have met a few folk that we "clicked with" but unfortunately they have gone back to the UK for winter. However, our pals Kathy and Peter Jamison (Wave Runner) from NZ are in Marmaris while they are waiting on a heavy lift ship to deliver their yacht to NZ so we have enjoyed a few catch ups with them.

Our long time friend Beckie Queen also spent a few nights with us so we haven't been all that lonely. Beckie just loved the Turkish Pide!
The other night we went to Happy Hour here in the marina and I can definately say that Yacht Marine has its old guard just like any other marina! I didn't like Happy Hour any more this year than I did way back on our first visit in 2011!
However, there are advantage of bring here as there is a pool, sauna, gym, library, snooker tables, daily canteen and the restaurant serving delicious meals. Another advantage is that we can ride the little ferry or dolmus into town,
