We left Australia in November 2007 from the RQYS Marina in Manly, Brisbane Queensland on our 45' Cavalier blue water cruising cutter rigged yacht.
During 2007-2009 we sailed north through the Louisaides and the Solomon Islands and across the Equator. We then turned west and sailed through Micronesia, Palau and on to the Philippines. After many months there we turned south and sailed through Brunei and Borneo, East Malaysia. Again we spent many months in the area. Our land travel during this time took us to many parts of Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo as well as a number of trips to Australia
Throughout 2010 we cruised slowly through SE Asia from East Malaysia to West Malaysia via Tioman Islands and Singapore. We air/land travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia during our stay on Tioman Is. We based ourselves in Rebak marina on Langkawi Island Malaysia while we prepared Hamamas and ourselves ready to join the Vasco da Gama Rally.
However, in Jan 2011 we attempted to cross the Indian Ocean to join the Vasco Da Gama Rally through the Red Sea and on to Turkey but were forced to return to Malaysia through an a encounter with an extreme weather system causing us to miss the Rally.
In June 2011 due to the escalating Piracy problem in the Indian Ocean and to the political upheaval in the Middle East we decided to ship Hamamas to Marmaris in Turkey. First we had to sail from Langkawi to Phuket in Thailand where we waited for our transport ship to arrive.
Eventually we were able to load Hamams on the ship for her journey through the Red Sea while we flew from to Istanbul in Turkey. While waiting for Hamams to arrive in Marmaris Turkey we played tourist in Istandul and varios parts of Turkey including Cappadocia, Konya, Pamukkale nd marmaris.
During 2011 we remained in Turkey and cruised slowly from Maramaris to Alanya via all the wonderful ports and anchorages along the way. Plus taking a few side land trips to some of the Greek island. While "wintering in Alanya 2011/12 we flew back to Australia.
In the summer of 2012 we land travelled along the Turkish Mediterrean coast to the Dardenelles, Izmir, Troy and we also flew to the Turkish Black Sea coast, Romania and Bulgaria.
While "wintering" in Alanya in 2012/2013 we again land travelled to various places including South Eastern Anatolia, Egypt and Australia.
In early 2013 we were based in Alanya preparing for the cruising season as well as organising our land travel to Scotland. During the 2013 season we cruised west along the Turkish coast, into the Dodecanese Greek Islands and back down the Turkish coast to Finike where we spent a fantastic "winter 2013/14)
In late 2013 and early 2014 we air/land travelled first to USA, to Central Anatolia and took 4 weeks getting to know Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
During 2014 we did on a short land trip back to Alanya and a later cruised season along the Turkish coast and back to Finike for the 2014/15 winter.
