Here is Tom's story of the day we walked across Tioman Island to Juara bay

We have just had the funniest day. Various friends have raved about climbing over the mountain to the other side and how beautiful it all was. Well we set off this morning and trudged for two and a half hours.
It was dead boring. Just a lot of jungle and hard work walking up hill and down dale over rocks and logs and fallen power lines. Bless their hearts there were also hundreds of steps thrown in! Saw one monkey, one bird , two large bull ants and the statutory number of blowflies. Admittedly, the beach at the other end was quite beautiful. We also had a nice lunch which is a bit of a long shot in this part of the world. Toasted tuna and salad sandwich with chips. You wouldn't think that could be screwed up but from past experience it can.

After lunch and re-energised we set off to trudge the two and a half hours back and I was dead set on going the alternative route which is a narrow road thinking it would be easier. Well a car driver had mercy on us as we trudged back and just as well because its further and of course half the "further" bit is up hill!! He was a taxi charged us 10 MYR each for the ride which was fine!
Anyhow we are back, showered and relaxing and we can tick that box.
Tonight we are going to a Malaysia day celebration on a very large boat. They are a great bunch of people and we have been there before so it is bound to be very nice.
