A Palace, Submarine and Icebreaker, Tallinn, Estonia 2015

6 June , 2015
Today we visited the stunning  Kadriorg Palace and Art Museum in the peaceful Kardriorg Park which is a short tram ride away from the Tallinn  old town.
The Palace is a Petrine Baroque palace built  by Peter the Great in 1718 as an summer residence for Catherine I of Russia. It was designed to resemble the Italian palaces of the time and has been extremely well preserved since the early 18th century. Kadiorg Palace is considered to be the grandest example of palace and park design in Estonian architectural history.
Currently the Palace houses the Kadriorg Art Museum displaying foreign art from the 16th to 20th centuries.

Later  in the day we travelled to the Submarine Harbour where we saw the Limbit submarine, the Suur Toll icebreaker and a number of other exhibitions.

Finally,  we had a last wander around this fantastic city, photographing as we went along. This is a wonderful old city and we would love to spend more time here.
