Galveston, Texas, USA, 2014

19 Jan, 2014
It is a 45 minute drive from Houston to Galveston but we decided to take a day trip so we could check out the lovely, old, historical city as well as the Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum ( Refer to the next Post). We had been inspired by the song Galveston and it was hard to stop singing it as we strolled around learning more of the town's history and absorbing the atmosphere. The Stand National Historical District had some beautifully renovated old building and historical markers and the waterfront area with the Cruise Port, Pleasure Pier, seafood restaurants, the tall ship Elissa and a couple of  Museums were particularly interesting.

At the end of a long day it was hard to say goodbye to Galveston and we wished we had more time to explore what else the delightful old city had to offer as we felt we only just "touched the surface."

It wouldn't be Galveston without the modern "cowboys"!
