The Pirate Ships of Alanya-Turkey-2012-2013

05/08/12
In days gone by Alanya was a pirate stronghold so today the tourist boats or day trippers are all decked out as pirate ships!
During the sailing season they come into the cove near our marina for their lunch stop, a swim and fun and games. The music from the ghetto blasters is very, very loud and  often they are competing with each other!
They do look good  though and obviously provide a lot of fun for their guests.
We call them our pirate ships as one of them moors in the marina during the season and in winter about 4 of them are put on the hardstand near us, then we call them our "wintering buddies!"

Update June 2013
Just recently while the Alanya Triatholon was on the pirate ships were using our marina to load and unload the tourists.  It really looked like a pirate invasion!

Pirate Invasion!
How about this one!

 Pirate Convention?

Preparing for Battle?

 Busy Day at the Office?
 Tourist Outing?

This was our lunchtime view today (30 June 2013). While we munched on lunch, the pirate ships  played dodgems in the marina and a Muslem Turkish family on the yacht next to us, were praying to Mecca on their foreward deck!

Tuesday (2.7.13) evening we decided to have our dinner in town by the Alanya  Town Harbour and here is what we saw. We now know where the Pirate ships go in the evening.
