Towards Invergordon, Scotland, 2013

 4 May, 2013
There was excitement in our ranks this morning as we were heading further north to our next accommodation in Invergordon.  During our journey we stopped off now and again for the essentials, such as, morning tea (in a whiskey specialist place), afternoon tea  and our picnic lunch.

Also we took photos of one of the many Chivers Distilleries dotted along the roadway as well as the ruined Cathedral at Elgin (1224).

The sandstone Cathedral at Elgin was damaged by fire in 1270,1390 and 1402 and virtually unused from the time of the Reformation in 1560. Consequently, it fell into ruin and now is a tourist attraction.

The number of  Headstones  was surprising.
As we travelled towards Invergorden  we stopped off at a Hospital for some antibiotics for Tom as his cold was not clearing up quickly enough. We were “sorted out” in no time at all and didn’t have to “pay a penny” as Medicare Australia has a reciprocal arrangement with the National Health scheme in UK. Thank you Medicare.

Around 5.30 pm we arrived at our hosts, Catherine and John Mackay’s home, in Invergorden. After settling in we were treated to a traditional Scottish haggis dinner  with all the trimmings as well as  a variety of whiskeys and enjoyable conversation.
