Kos has had a long and varied
history as the town was founded in 366 BC.
Today Hellenistic and Roman ruins are sprinkled all over the harbour and
town centre area.
There have been some attempts at
restoration but it is would be a massive undertaking. Some of the areas had project
sign stating numbers such as 500,000 and 600,000 Euros for restoration. Needless to say no
such work was happening while we were there. Maybe EU money has “dried up”
