After our lunch stop at St Andrew's we travelled towards Troywood to visit Scotland's Secret Underground Nuclear Command Bunker which was Scotland's beat kept secret for 40 years! Hidden beneath a farmhouse, a tunnel leads to the Secret Bunker 100 ft underground which was to have been a retreat if there had been a nuclear attack during the Cold War.
It was decommissioned in 1993 and is now a Cold War Museum housing examples of communications systems, films. maps and planning rooms, accommodation and displays of how "things" would have operated in the event of a nuclear attack. We found it fascinating wandering around the complex.
